Just Enough…
Exodus 16:17-18 — And the people of Israel did so. They gathered, some more, some less. But when they measured it with an omer, whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack. Each of them gathered as much as he could eat.
Walking with God reveals that contentment is really the key to maintaining a Godly perspective. We have a tendency to do just about everything in excess. We eat in excess, we buy in excess, and we even sin in excess. Essentially, what this reveals is that we are never satisfied. There is never enough. We may say to ourselves that there is a certain point that we feel like when we reach it we will never want any more, but our lifestyles reveal that is not the truth.
The closer we get to Him, the more we realize that balance is what He wants for us. He wants us to have exactly what we need. Not anything more, not anything less. If we have too little, we may become bitter. If we have too much, we may become arrogant. Find contentment and see the good in where you are!
Proverbs 30:8-9 — “Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.”
